The KSSS Automobile Workshop was established in 1984 as an employment and income generating Unit of KSSS. The Workshop has been undertaking repair services of four wheeler motor cars including tinkering, painting, lathe works, liner works, electric works, etc. The Unit has been fully equipped with all required equipments and tools to service the vehicles. The Unit was approved by the State Government in the year 1989 as one of the authorized service centers for servicing Government vehicles. The Workshop has also been integrated with the St. Lawrence Technical Training Centre for imparting practical training to the students of the ITI. The Unit is also the first authorized service centre for servicing Honda Motor Cycles in Kanyakumari district.
Objectives
- To provide good quality repair services to four-wheeler and two wheeler vehicles.
- To impart practical training to the ITI students
- To provide employment opportunities to qualified youth belonging to poor families
- To generate adequate income for the sustainable viability of the Workshop
Challenges
- Inordinate delay in settlement of bills by the Government Departments concerned.
- Lack of modern equipments and tools to provide comprehensive service to vehicles.
