The New Trust Programme is the flagship programme of the Tamil Nadu Social Service Society (TASOSS) being implemented in the Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Region through the District level Social Service Societies for more than a decade. Miserior, Germany supports TASOSS in this venture. The Kottar Social Service Society has also been implementing the New Trust Programme through all its Units. The vision of the programnme is strengthening the marginal communities through creating self-reliant and self-sustainable peoples organization. The programme is being implemented in phases and the current and IVth phase (2008-2011) is focusing attention on two thrust areas of livelihood and rights promotion. There is an inbuilt mechanism in the project to capacitate the Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to expand their resource base, which would pave the way for CBOs to take up rights activities independently.
Objectives
- To impart training to the members of the CBOs to upgrade their skills to take up income generating activities
- To provide financial assistance to the CBO members to take up income generating activities
- To enable them to improve their economic status

- Conducting CBO meetings
- Arranging exposure visits of CBO members to livelihood development NGOs and right-based NGOs
- Initiating livelihood activities and right based activities in CBOs
- Enhancing marketing techniques and addressing right-based issues in collaboration with other NGOs
- Motivating the CBOs to address Atrocities against women and drug addiction
